Get To Know Me
Hi, I’m Liz.
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, it is my mission to help you become your best self. I believe everyone is resilient, but sometimes it takes an outside perspective to build insight and identify the strengths you already hold within.
Throughout my career I have worked with a wide range of clients, from children as young as three years old to senior adults in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, K-12 schools, higher education, and private practice. These experiences provided the opportunity to gain knowledge of and treat an array of diagnoses, and ultimately the ability to hone in on working with adolescents and adults with “high functioning” anxiety and depression. I understand that with anxiety and depression comes a multitude of experiences including (but not limited to) trauma, family conflict, school and work issues, life transitions, stress, and difficulties with attaining goals. These experiences of anxiety, stress, depression, grief, etc. look different for everyone.
My approach is strengths based and person centered, meaning although I have a professional license, I am not the expert in your life and instead will act as a guide in helping you navigate your feelings and experiences. I offer a safe space for you to be seen and heard without judgment, as a source of support on your journey to healing. We will work collaboratively, meaning we will call upon the insight you already have while also learning new ways of processing current and past experiences, so that you can trust yourself to cope with discomfort. I have training in Mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and believe in strengthening the mind-body connection to become more grounded and at peace in everyday life.
The relationship you have with a therapist is vital, as it is the foundation for trust, honesty, and transparency throughout the therapeutic process. Being vulnerable and processing your feelings can be tough; it's important to feel comfortable and safe. Part of the therapeutic relationship entails knowing a little about me as we will be spending a lot of time together. Outside of work, I enjoy being with friends & loved ones and spending time with my extremely playful cat. I am a coffee lover, find peace being in nature, and enjoy reading and hiking (being in the Hudson Valley, this is probably not surprising!). If we seem like a good fit and you’d like to know more about potentially working together, I’d love to connect through a free consultation!
